Shelfie Share is as simple as it sounds. These posts feature a fantastic shelfie from a notable blogger, author, or Shelfie user.
Anne Bogel is the blogger behind Modern Mrs. Darcy — a fantastic blog dedicating space to discuss women’s issues as they relate to us in 2016. Anne is also the host of the podcast, What Should I Read Next? It’s an incredibly thoughtful podcast featuring Anne, a special guest, and a bookish theme. In each episode, Anne plays a little literary matchmaking for her guest. It’s well worth a listen.
Recently, Anne shared her shelfie on her Instagram account (@annebogel) and I jumped at the opportunity to get in touch to reshare this photo. It’s such a colorful shelf packed with classics and modern reads!
I asked Anne for three recommended reads on her shelfie. She drew out three crowd-pleasing favorites with Ready Player One, Bel Canto, and The Storied Life of A. J. Fikry. All of these are fabulous reads.
“The science-fiction writer John Scalzi has aptly referred to READY PLAYER ONE as a ‘nerdgasm’ [and] there can be no better one-word description of this ardent fantasy artifact about fantasy culture…But Mr. Cline is able to incorporate his favorite toys and games into a perfectly accessible narrative.”
— Janet Maslin, The New York Times
“Bel Canto…should be on the list of every literate music lover. The story is riveting, the participants breathe and feel and are alive, and throughout this elegantly-told novel, music pours forth so splendidly that the reader hears it and is overwhelmed by its beauty.”
—Lloyd Moss, WXQR
“The Storied Life of A. J. Fikry reminds us what saves us all from a life of loneliness and isolation: our sense of empathy; our ability to love and be loved; our willingness to care and be cared for. Gabrielle Zevin has written a wonderful, moving, endearing story of redemption and transformation that will sing in your heart for a very, very long time.”
— Garth Stein, NYT Bestselling author of The Art of Racing in the Rain
