FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Leading International publisher to work with Vancouver start-up to offer readers e-versions of books they own in print.
December 7, 2015 (Vancouver, BC) – Today, BitLit announces an agreement with preeminent science, technology and medicine publisher Springer to offer ebook bundles to their customers. Springer, part of the newly formed publishing group Springer Nature, will add over 100,000 titles to the Shelfie app, making most of their full ebook catalogue available for bundling with respective print books.
Shelfie is a free app that allows readers to digitize their print library. By taking a photo of their bookshelf (a “shelfie”), readers can identify a list of books that are eligible for digital bundles. Readers download an ebook by using the app to snap a photo of their book’s copyright page marked with a bookplate, ex libris stamp or their handwritten name.
“As an e-first company, Springer’s goal is to provide quality content and make it easier for readers to find and use what they are looking for. BitLit aligns well with this goal and we are excited to enter this partnership,” said Till Moepert, Vice President of eCommerce for Springer Nature.
BitLit’s CEO, Peter Hudson, said, “The addition of Springer’s titles will exponentially increase Shelfie’s catalogue and adds to the already strong cannon of technical and professional books that can be bundled through BitLit.”
Springer joins the 1,200 publishers who offer bundling through the Shelfie app. Major publishing partners include HarperCollins, Macmillan, Elsevier, Wiley, Packt and O’Reilly.
Springer is part of Springer Nature, a leading global research, educational and professional publisher, home to an array of respected and trusted brands providing quality content through a range of innovative products and services.
